| The new "Babu", Vikas Kashyap arrives Pandeji receives him. Pande's niece, Gauri is a chatterbox, talkative, ebulient and joyful. She constantly pesters Vikas by her chatterings, but soon finds him irresponsive, dry and a bit harsh. Always she compares him with the old Babu who, in complete contrast, was loving and kind and sympathetic. This comparison annoys Vikas even more. |

| But Sonia returns from England. Sonia is completely westernised, entirely changed in her ideas. She is obsessed and enamoured of the western society. Vikas now compares her with Gauri. |

Gauri is truly an embodiment of an Indian womanhood. Her dedication and devotion, her service and her dutiful temperament come to his mind. He leaves Sonia and rushes back to the daughter of the Himalayas. |
