He launched Rajshri Pictures (P) Ltd, on August 15,1947. He distributed South's epoch-making films like 'Chandralekha', 'Sansar',' Bahar', 'Azad', 'Sharada', 'Sasural', 'Milan', 'Khilona', etc. and later he distributed hits in Hindi like 'Sholay', 'Dharamveer', 'Amar Akbar Anthony', 'Parvarish', 'Victoria No. 203', 'Chacha Bhatija', 'Roti Kapda Aur Makaan', ' Avtaar', 'Coolie', 'Mard' and many more.

In 1962, Rajshri Production (P) Ltd. produced and released their first Hindi movie “Aarti” which won high praises and was screened at International film festivals. Dosti won several awards including the National Award, Filmfare Award as Best Picture. Some more memorable films are 'Uphaar', 'Piya ka ghar', 'Saudagar', 'Geet gaata chal', 'Dulhan wahi jo piya man bhaaye', 'Ankhiyon ke jharokhon se', and 'Nadiya ke paar' etc. Amongst the new talents that Rajshri has promoted are Rakhee, Jaya Bhaduri, Sachin, Anupam Kher, Madhuri Dixit, Salman Khan etc. Tarachand with his confidence and faith in his grandson, Sooraj R. Barjatya intiated his directional venture “Maine pyar kiya”. This film was declared by the Press and the film industry as one of the eight biggest blockbusters ever to hit the Indian film screen in the past 76 years.
